Throughout the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, you will develop and integrate the practical counselling skills, theoretical understanding, ethical awareness and self-reflective practice required for professional therapeutic work.

The course encourages students to think deeply, reflect openly, and develop confidence in their own way of working therapeutically.

Counselling Placement and Supervised Client Work

A key part of the Level 4 Diploma is completing supervised counselling practice within a placement setting.

This gives students the opportunity to begin working therapeutically with clients while receiving ongoing support from tutors and clinical supervisors. Students are responsible for securing a suitable counselling placement, and South West School of Counselling will provide guidance and support throughout the process. All placements must meet the requirements of the qualification.

Students should also be prepared to undertake the personal development requirements associated with professional counsellor training, which may include personal therapy in accordance with course and awarding-body requirements.

CPCAB Level 4 Entry Requirements

Applicants will normally need:

• A recognised Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (CST-L3) or an appropriate equivalent qualification
• A readiness for professional training and self-reflective learning
• Good written and spoken English skills
• The ability to work with emotional depth and personal development

All applicants will be invited to attend an interview as part of the application process.
